As part of my weekly coffee meet up, Jk Mums and Bubs Coffee, I discovered a hidden gem in Kemang. ‘Mandiras Garden’ is a tiny cafe with its own vegetable garden. I can’t tell you how excited I was to visit this cafe! I love finding green spaces in this city!
With a garden to table concept, the cafe uses their own produce in a daily changing menu. For this reason, the food choices aren’t extensive, however I was really happy with my selection. Simple, organic and fresh…mainly Indonesian style dishes. I had a kale shake (I get over excited over kale!) and Little Wombat had a fresh orange juice.
For brunch I ordered their organic red rice with chili baby octopus and fresh vegetables. I loved the sautéed pumpkin leaves…I definitely need to start using this vegetable more often in my cooking at home. My friend Ellen, also loved her meal…
The best part about this cafe was the outdoor setting. My son loved roaming around their garden and freely explored on his own.
I recommend bringing mosquito repellent and wearing sunscreen…then sit back and enjoy the nestled little haven. You’ll forget you’re in Jakarta!

My coffee group sponsors three children from a trash picking community in Jakarta and sends them to school (through XSProject). We welcome new members! It’s a great way to make friends for both yourself and your child(ren). Please PM me if you’re interested in joining.
